Public Toilets |
Not a subject people like to talk about but something we all use - at some time or another. Our public toilets in Penkridge were originally built by South Staffordshire District Council many years ago. Eventually, however, they decided, in their wisdom, that they couldn't afford to renovate or improve them so made the decision to demolish them. Penkridge Parish Council, however, stepped in and said they would take over this village amenity as they felt it was important to keep them. They were given to the Parish Council who then spent a lot of money to build new ones which you see there today. As well as a ladies and gents, there is also an easy access toilet for wheelchair users.
It is the Parish
Council's intention to keep and maintain these toilets as we believe that is what the
community wishes us to do. We have even had letters from people within and outside
our village, thanking us for providing this much-needed service.
Occasionally, owing perhaps to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, the
toilets may be closed for a short time, even a couple of days. In
these rare instances, we would direct you to others in the community e.g. the
Co-op, local Pubs, or to the Haling Dene Centre on the Cannock Road.
