Penkridge Events Diary

Please send details of any event you would like to publicise, by email to the Webmaster (webmaster at penkridge.org.uk) or phone him on 712733.  We would suggest you do not publicise ordinary group meetings for your members, but stick to events where the general public are invited and welcome.  You could be embarrassed if half of Penkridge turn up to a Committee Meeting!  And the webmaster will be embarrassed if he ever gets a date wrong - so please tell me.  Please always check with the organisers of the events, just in case dates have changed and we haven't been informed - but we will do our best to make sure the information is accurate and up-to-date.
We would strongly advise all Penkridge organisations to include their major events in this Diary so that others do not organise an event that may clash.

Tuesday 16 January 2018 -  THE FUTURE OF OUR LIBRARY? - 3 TO 6PM - YET ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO CLOSE OUR LIBRARY EVEN AFTER 2,500 PENKRIDGE PEOPLE SAID NO 3 YEARS AGO.   They are looking for Penkridge and 3 others in the county to become "Community Managed" libraries, with no professional staff employed there.  Only machines and volunteers.   A larger proportion of the population of our parish use our library than the Stafford population use their library so why is this happening.   The County Council have chosen Penkridge as their first port of call in their consultation exercise and have given us very little notice.   BUT IF YOU CAN, PLEASE POP IN BETWEEN 3 AND 6pm to put your views to whoever they send down for 3 hours.   And please tell the Friends of Penkridge Library as together with Penkridge Parish Council, they will be putting your views strongly to the County Council, as you can individually, by 1 April 2018.    It will be a major item on the Parish Council's Agenda at their 8 February meeting.  Come along and make your views known in the public participation session or write to the Parish Council OR the Friends of Penkridge Library.
Thursday 22 February 2018 - Penkridge Parish Council - 7am Haling Dene Management Committee - 8.30pm Recreation & Amenities Committee. (Penkridge Library is An item on the Agenda and there will be discussion on the implications of changing the Library to a Community Management Library)
Monday 26 February 2018 - Exhibition at Haling Dene by McCarthy & Stone of their proposal for development of 2 acres of land on the NE side of A449 adjacent to current development.   2 to 3pm   and  3 to 7pm.
Thursday 8 March 2018 - Parish Council Planning Meeting 7pm Haling Dene Centre.  7.30pm Full Parish Council Meeting.
Thursday 15 March 2018 - ANNUAL PARISH MEETING - 7pm at Haling Dene Centre - This is NOT a Parish Council meeting. It is an official meeting of the Parish or Town electors who can debate current issues in the community.   It has to be called every year between 1 March and 1 June.  The Chair of the Council, if present, chairs the meeting but if not, the meeting will elect a chairperson.
If any elector/s of Penkridge Parish wish to raise any concerns, projects, problems, etc. relating to our Parish, which you feel should be debated, then this is YOUR meeting.   Resolutions can be passed at this meeting and will be reported to the Parish Council.
Tuesday 17 March 2018 - FOUR YEARS OF MISERY STARTS TODAY FOR THE PEOPLE OF PENKRIDGE - HIGHWAYS ENGLAND are starting a new stretch of roadworks on the M6 between Junction 13 for Stafford and Juntion 15 for Stoke.  See index page for details of when lanes will be closed as this work is going to cause Penkridge lots of problems yet again.

Thursday 22 March 2018 - Public Meeting to discuss the County Council's proposals for our Library.  7pm Haling Dene Centre - We need to hear your views.
