Penkridge Conservation Area - Character Appraisal and Management Proposals |
South Staffordshire District Council have been going through an exercise to revise the Penkridge Conservation Area. In August 2007 they produced a suggested revision by way of a map with areas marked for deletion and some areas marked for addition to the map. There were also Buffer Zones put forward and part of the area was being proposed to be moved to be part of the Staffs. & Worcs. Canal Conservation Area. Members of the public were invited to submit their comments on these proposals which many of you did.
Now the Council have produced a new DRAFT
CONSERVATION AREA MANAGEMENT PLAN for Penkridge which you can see if you click
HERE.
There is a description of the new area and its characteristics that the Council
considers why it should, or should not, be included.
It is a large file so have patience while the file is downloaded.
You may wish to save it to your computer so you can then examine it more
carefully and at your leisure.

This was what was said in 2007 by
the District Council:
“Preserving the green
belt, our heritage and beauty spots across the district is a major priority for
the Council which is why we want local residents to help us get it right,
because no-one knows an area better than the people who live there.”
“This is a great opportunity for local residents to get involved and share the local knowledge that will help create Conservation Areas that are right for the future of the village”.
Townscape Appraisal Map - This was a link to the map on the District Council Website where you could see in fine detail the assessment of the current Conservation Area and their proposals. This a link to the ORIGINAL PROPOSALS BACK IN 2007 which they were then asking for your comments on.
