STAFFORDSHIRE BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION |
Competition 2004 - Below are
the judges' comments on our village made by them during this year's competition.
We are told that action taken on any adverse comments will be taken into account
next year. 2005 is the 50th Anniversary of the BKV competition in
Staffordshire.
Judges saw few BKV notices and no children's poster's.
Noticeboards were in good condition with a good display of local information.
Unfortunately, no notices indicating recycling facilities were seen.
Churchyards were tidy and, in the main, so were the surrounds of communal
buildings. Unfortunately, in June the surrounds of the Memorial Hall had
many weeds.
The War Memorial was excellent.
In May litter was almost absent from the village but in June a lot of litter was
seen around the village centre and at the Monckton Recreation area.
Private gardens were well cared for as was the children's play equipment and
associated safety surfaces.
The map lacked a colour code but generally it was easy to follow.
