The Gold Jubilee Celebrations in Penkridge came to a noisy conclusion with the Big Band Concert held in the grounds of the Haling Dene Centre on Tuesday evening, 4 June 2002.  Over 600 people turned out (all family groups) for a brilliant evening of music and fireworks.  The Haling Dene bar sold out, the Pig Roast sold out and everyone had a marvellous time.  The weather was kind, the sun shining down all evening casting long shadows in the grounds from the magnificent trees that grow there.  Not for a long time have we seen so many Penkridge folk picnicing in Haling Dene - mums, dads, grandparents, children and grandchildren.  I suppose the question is: "Do we wait for the Diamond Jubilee before organising another get together like this OR would you like to see a similar event as a "one off" next year?"  Let the Parish Council know or comment on the Bulletin Board of this web site.
