Penkridge Events Diary

Please send details of any event you would like to publicise by email to the Webmaster (webmaster at penkridge.org.uk) or phone him on 712733, or leave a note in the office at Haling Dene.  We would suggest you do not publicise ordinary group meetings for your members, but stick to events where the general public are invited and welcome.  You could be embarrassed if half of Penkridge turn up to a Committee Meeting!  And the webmaster will be embarrassed if he ever gets a date wrong - so please tell me.  Please always check with the organisers of the events, just in case dates have changed and we haven't been informed - but we will do our best to make sure the information is accurate and up-to-date.
We would strongly advise all Penkridge organisations to include their major events in this Diary so that others do not organise an event that may clash.

2008

18 - 30 June 2008 - Keith Burton and John Linney (both well known people in Penkridge) have just completed a 178 mile trail in 12 days across the high Northumberland moors titled the “Reivers Way”.   Beginning near Corbridge then into Allendale Town, Hadrian’s Wall, Rothbury, Cheviots, Wooler, Lindisfarn, Bamburgh, ending at Alnmouth.
The Trail is very remote and pathless, with very difficult ground conditions from Hadrian’s Wall to Wooler and is rarely walked. Thankfully their load was not as heavy as last year as they were not camping this time.
We are grateful for the level of sponsor support given which will go once again to the Macmillan Nurses of Stafford.  Click here for details AND A REPORT OF THEIR WALK.      THEY HAVE JUST FINISHED THE WALK - WELL DONE KEITH AND JOHN
5 July 2008 - Football Tournament at the Monckton Recreation Centre
5 July 2008  - Penkridge & District Round Table Annual Comedy Festival at the Peace Memorial Hall - Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start, and the event will continue until late with a disco afterwards.  The event is strictly limited to a capacity of 160 people, with almost half of the tickets having already been reserved.

The event - the brainchild of Round Table elder statesman Dave Williams is being repeated by popular demand owing to it’s immense success over the past 3yrs, and is set to become a regular fixture in the village social calendar.

This years format will include 2 top comedians - with Lea Roberts returning again by popular demand, this year with all new material, and a newcomer to this years event is Steve Tandy. The event includes a fish and chip supper, disco and a licensed bar. The cost of a ticket for the night is £12.50 (same as last year) – excellent value for money, and a great night out for all.  Comedy festival favourite Lea was elected by the viewers of TV series "Stand Up Britain” as outright winner, having worked in stand-up for many years following a successful professional rugby career. Birmingham born Festival Newcomer Steve's ability to impersonate a whole range of characters from the TV world gives audiences an act with a difference.

Those interested in tickets should contact Ian on 01785 713396 at the earliest opportunity in order to avoid disappointment.
