We aim to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children of school age, before and after normal school hours, some school holidays and inset days - please ask staff for details.

The children are supervised by qualified staff, who work together to provide a harmonised atmosphere for all.
We are Ofsted registered and our last inspection in June 2006 was assessed as satisfactory.

We are based on the school premises and use our own room, the school hall, playground or playing fields for our activities.  During the poorer weather we are able to accommodate a range of indoor activities, whether it be quiet/homework time, games, written activities like word searches or just time to "chill out" after a hard day.  Art sessions are run twice weekly with one of them including looking at specific foreign countries.  Other special themed sessions are run once a month.   Refreshments are available free of charge or children are able to eat their own snacks.

Our opening times are 8am to start of school and 3.15pm to 6pm Monday to Friday inclusive.

JUBILEE PLAYGROUP  Est. 1977
Room 34, Haling Dene Centre, Cannock Road, Penkridge

Jubilee Playgroup is a small caring playgroup with charitable status.  Staff are qualified and motivated, all are mothers themselves and have many years experience looking after young children.  The Playgroup is open on five days a week - Monday to Friday mornings from 9.15am to 11.45am during term time.

The aims of the playgroup are to provide suitable play for children from 2 years of age to develop independence whilst allowing them to mix with others of their own age in a safe, happy and comfortable environment.  The children are also encouraged to take part in playgroup activities.  The morning is structured to give the children a gentle introduction to their future schooling.  During the morning, children play, have the opportunity to take part in craftwork, have a short break with a snack and a drink, have story time and sing etc.  Weather permitting we also take the opportunity to play outside in the lovely grounds.

As part of the Children Act 1989, the playgroup is inspected annually by OFSTED and we have always been very highly approved. There is no discrimination between any children.  We have nappy changing facilities and will be happy to discuss individual children's needs. We have also always been highly recommended by satisfied parents.

In order to keep our fees low we hold occasional fund raising events, and there are also occasional meetings where parents are welcome to come along and share their ideas.

Fees at present are £5 per session, to be paid in full at the beginning of each half term.

If you would like more information pay us a visit in Room 34, or contact joint Playgroup Supervisor Mrs Sharon Bishop on 07913 822991.  We look forward to seeing you

Further information about our Playgroup
.
Penkridge Pre - School Playgroup has been running for over 30 years and is a member of the Pre - school Playgroup Association.  It is administered by an annually elected committee at the AGM each October.

The Playgroup employs five members of staff and is also helped by parent volunteers, without whose help we could not survive. The fees are paid each half term which covers the rent of rooms, wages and running expenses.  We have regular fund raising events organised by the committee with all proceeds going towards 'extras' for the children i.e. new toys, outings, parties, presents etc.

Children learn through play and we provide activities which: -

·               Stimulate children's creativity and imagination e.g. painting, gluing, sand, water, dressing up.
·
Enrich their language development through stories, songs, conversation, finger & hand puppets.
·
Enable children to come to terms with their own lives and express their feelings :- role play, stories.
·
Encourage the development of manipulative skills :- building blocks, Lego, playdough.
·
Offer the chance to explore and enjoy natural materials:- water, sand, leaves, playdough
·
Develop muscular strength and co-ordination e.g. large play equipment, outdoor play.
·
Establish the use of symbols and patterns which form the basis of reading and writing: - crayoning,    peg  boards, book corner, painting, puzzles.
·
Help children to respect and enjoy the companionship of adults and other children: -conversation, joint activities, sharing.
·
Create habits of listening and concentrating e.g. register, telephone, story-telling
·
Extend children's understanding of science and the world around them : outings, books, visitors, cooking, growing things.

Respond to children's need to explore through their senses :- water, sand, music, collage.
