Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal |
Running straight through the centre of our
community, past two pubs, two schools and only a few hundred metres from all the shops and
facilities, the "Staffs. and Worcestershire" brings hundreds of visitors to
Penkridge every year.
One or two of our residents actually came here by Canal.
There are several wharfs and marinas in our parish and the narrow boat is a very common sight during the summer months, as they negotiate the two or three locks through Penkridge. There is even a very, very large boat being built in Penkridge which is destined for travelling on continental canals one day. It is far too large for the English canal system. Do you know where it is?
On these pages we will bring you all the
news about our canal, it's history and it's people. News also about how you can
travel on this canal, fish in the canal and walk and cycle
the towpaths along the canal.
Sorry - no swimming in the canal!
Will anyone out there help me by gathering the information? Contact the webmaster with details - its all FREE!
