Penkridge Backland in the centre of the community being destroyed for Luxury Flats

These two pictures were taken on the 30 January 2004 from the car park behind the Chapel and the Hairdressers
=====================

The images below were taken on Tuesday 22 April 2003 on a bright and sunny morning from the Public Car Park behind the Methodist Chapel.   A Grey Wagtail was feeding in the stream and a Chiffchaff was singing from the trees that had not yet been felled.  Blackbirds, Song Thrush, Wren, Dunnock, Robin were also heard singing.  I wondered whether these birds would be able to nest successfully this year and whether the habitat would have all gone by this time next spring when the Chiffchaff would be returning from its wintering quarters in Africa.  Many of the branches and logs had fallen into the stream and were impeding the flow.  No one was working there today.
25 April - The Environment Agency informed me that as the Otherton Brook is classified as "main river", they will be arranging to clear the debris from the brook!
30 April - Heavy rains over the last day or so will have brought the level of the Otherton Brook up.  Has the debris been removed?
