Penkridge loses three men (David Wynn, Phil Gollings and Fred Perks)

Phil Gollings
, author of the History of St. Michael's School and well known and respected Penkridge resident and British Legion member died on 9 April

 

Fred Perks

another Penkridge Author and long-time member of our Local History Group also died on 9 April 2012.  Fred wrote two books about his life working on the Railways as an Engine Driver.  Again, Fred leaves us with many memories. 

 David Wynn

 was yet another of our History Group members who contributed greatly to our latest book.  David, Fred and Phil were three lovely men, very friendly and liked by everyone

The Swamp Conservation Group are pleased to say that the two pools have now been de-silted by the District Council's contractors and they have done a fine job.   The pools will slowly fill again and the vegetation will recover in the spring.   Please do not go on to the areas where the silt has been tipped.
